I strongly suspect the Boehm GC, but I'm not entirely sure yet. After a few seconds of CPU time (while running dacapo bloat, for example), it just stops making progress at all while consuming 100% CPU power. Interestingly, x86_64 works fine.
I just found an older version which works fine (f69c19eb78fd). I'll try to do a bisection tomorrow to find out what causes this breakage. Maybe classpath 0.98 vs. 0.97 is to blame. I'll have another look at this...
Strange–I have no idea why, but it suddenly started working.
